Bay Area Musicals! presents its second annual benefit  fundraiser, A Twist of Limelight, on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the Alcazar Theatre (650 Geary St) in San Francisco.  Tony Award-Winning actress, Alice Ripley (Next to Normal, American Psycho, Sideshow, Carrie)– will give a special performance.  Proceeds from the benefit support upcoming productions by Bay Area Musicals!

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception. During this time, guests will be given a chance to win raffle prizes, as well as participate in the silent auction.  Immediately after, Matthew McCoy – Bay Area Musicals’ Founder and Artistic Director – will be announcing their third season with the help of local performers.  There will also be a live auction featuring one-of-a-kind items including remote vacation destinations, dinner & theater packages, and a luxury cruise. Act two will consist of a concert by Alice Ripley.

ALICE RIPLEY is a San Leandro, CA native who now has made her stamp in American Musical history. Alice appears as Kathleen in the new Netflix 1/2 hour comedy GIRLBOSS, which premieres on April 21, 2017. Alice earned critical acclaim and won Best Actress in a Musical Tony and Helen Hayes awards for her work as Diana in the Pulitzer Prize winning rock opera Next to Normal. Ms. Ripley received Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations for her portrayal of conjoined twin Violet Hilton in Side Show. As part of the original Broadway casts, Alice also originated the Broadway roles of Janet Weiss in The Rocky Horror Show, Molly Ivors in James Joyce's The Dead, Betty Schaefer in Sunset Boulevard, the Specialist's Assistant in The Who's Tommy, and Bathsheba in King David, as well as having a long stay at the Imperial Theatre as Fantine in Les Miserables. 2016 saw Alice in the original Broadway cast of American Psycho.

TV: 30 Rock, Blue Bloods, Hee Haw and Royal Pains. Ms. Ripley won three Best Acting awards for the indie musical favorite SUGAR!, which recently gained distribution and made a presence on the 2016 festival circuit. 2017 will see the Broadway Records release of the music of SUGAR!. Other film: Sing Along, Isn't It Delicious, The Adulterer, Bear With Us, Temptation and Muckland. Ms. Ripley is an accomplished musician and has written and produced her own music. Recordings include: Daily Practice Vol 1, Everything's Fine, Outtasite, and RIPLEY EP, as well as numerous Broadway cast and compilation albums. Each fall, Alice returns to Buenos Aires for the annual Next to Casi Normales concerts, co-starring Jennifer Damiano and Fernando Dente.
